Green
Statement:
Our profession is charged with the care and custody of cultural
artifacts.
In the present world taking care of an object for future generations
must include taking care of the environment, so there will be
future generations.
The present rate at which we are consuming resources is badly
damaging our planet, it is not sustainable.
We need to rethink how we are doing business, to shrink individual
and business foot print.
We not only need to reduce, reuse and recycle, but redesign and
rethink how we are doing things and what we are using.
We must expand our scope, and look beyond the microcosm to the
macrocosm.
A Quote from William McDonough, Architect
;“Sustainability
should mean meeting the needs of the present without compromising
the ability of future generations of all living things to meet
their own needs”
We begin by making sure the materials utilized specifically within
our industry do not degrade the environment, furthermore to talk
to manufacturers and set up partnerships with a view to changing
the mindset of individuals in general, encouraging new ideas to
manage the environmental impact worldwide within our industry.
We would hope that your next trip to buy groceries will evoke
a sense of informed choice and that you refuse a plastic carrier
bag or plastic bottle of water in favor of the re-useable alternative.
