Chairman’s Brief

Jonathan Schwartz, ICEFAT Steering Committee Chairman

From my seat, I wait for a slow Federal system to react, I see what’s coming in from our brave colleagues overseas, what’s broadcast on media, and the uncertainty of the moment is chilling. It’s been more than 100 years since a pandemic affected a significant portion of the planet and we had tragically inferior resources back then. But today, with the speed of conveyance and a disproportionately massive population, the unknowns are too overwhelming to consider.

A pandemic. That’s what this is called.

ICEFAT is a global organization made up of people who dedicate their good works to preserving culture. We are all in this together, and hopefully, there are programs in your countries to benefit you during hardships such as work stoppages. It’s inevitable that some of us will find the challenges daunting, but the Steering Committee is praying and hoping for your continued health and success at riding this out. Listen to the calmer voices and try not to give into hysteria.

There is a lot of good sense in “flattening the curve” of this unfortunate event. Google that term.

From me personally, to all of you: I am sorry for this interruption to your work and home lives. It puts a lot of things into perspective, and I wish the more petty and silly concerns we normally have could come to the forefront, but for now, be safe, take care of yourselves, and I hope to share better moments with our ICEFAT members this October.
